ABOUT ALDO
Aldo Lavaggi is a multi-instrumentalist and educator who grew up in the Catskill Mountains near Woodstock, NY. Born into three generations of artists and sculptors, Aldo developed a strong connection to the practical arts from an early age. Influenced by the Hudson Valley Folk revival of the 80s and 90s, he was exposed to a lot of great music. He learned fiddle under the guidance of renowned musician Jay Ungar and holds a BA in ecological economics and design from Goddard College. Aldo Lavaggi is a certified Waldorf teacher and Level 1 Spacial Dynamics practitioner with a deep passion for progressive, contextualized education.
Over the past two decades, he has worked with thousands of students and educators, using music and dance to foster social well-being in schools. Based in Hudson, NY, Aldo teaches private lessons, and performs both solo and in collaboration with a variety of talented musicians, playing at festivals, dances, and special events across the Northeast.
